Puerto Vallarta, November 22, 2024 — In a significant contribution to environmental conservation, the Subdirectorate of Ecology and Environment of Puerto Vallarta has received a donation of 400 Rosa Morada trees from Colegio Ameyali. The trees were meticulously cultivated by the primary and secondary students of the school, showcasing their dedication to nurturing nature.
Dr. Bartolo Cruz Romero, head of the subdirectorate, praised the students’ efforts. “This action not only contributes to the beautification of our municipality but also raises environmental awareness among young people, teaching them the importance of caring for our environment,” he stated.
Due to the current dry season, the 400 trees will be temporarily housed in the nursery of the Subdirectorate of the Environment. “We cannot plant them at this time, but we will do so during the next rainy season,” explained Dr. Cruz Romero. He also mentioned that residents interested in adopting a tree can do so by committing, through a certificate, to take proper care of it.
The Rosa Morada tree, known for its beautiful purple blossoms, is native to the region and plays a crucial role in local ecosystems. Planting these trees not only enhances the city’s aesthetic appeal but also contributes to biodiversity and environmental health.
This initiative underscores the importance of collaborative efforts between educational institutions and government bodies in promoting environmental stewardship. By engaging young students in such projects, Puerto Vallarta is fostering a generation that values and actively participates in ecological preservation.
Residents wishing to adopt a Rosa Morada tree can contact the Subdirectorate of Ecology and Environment for more information. The subdirectorate encourages community involvement, emphasizing that collective action is key to sustaining the municipality’s natural beauty.
