Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco — The Jalisco State Prosecutor’s Office has successfully brought charges against an American male accused of fatally stabbing another man in Puerto Vallarta’s Romantic Zone. The suspect, identified as Irving M., originally from California, was apprehended just hours after the alleged incident.
According to the Special Regional Prosecutor’s Office of District VIII, the events unfolded on November 19 around 2:00 p.m. Irving M. was reportedly walking along Venustiano Carranza Street at its intersection with Ignacio I. Vallarta in the Emiliano Zapata neighborhood. An altercation ensued when he became upset with the victim for not allowing him to pass immediately on the sidewalk.
In a fit of anger, Irving M. allegedly attacked the man with a knife. The injured individual managed to walk a few meters before collapsing. Local merchants rushed to his aid and called for emergency services. Despite their efforts, paramedics pronounced the man dead upon arrival.
The Public Ministry agent, with support from the Investigative Police, swiftly initiated an inquiry into the incident. Their prompt investigative work led to the identification of Irving M. as the potential assailant. An arrest warrant was issued, and he was captured in the Las Mojoneras neighborhood of Puerto Vallarta, preventing any chance of escape.
During the court proceedings, the judicial authority found the evidence presented by the prosecution to be substantial. Irving M. has been officially linked to the trial on charges of intentional homicide. He will remain in pretrial detention for one year as the legal process continues.
