PUERTO VALLARTA (PVDN) – A grim discovery was made in the Ameca River near the Las Juntas delegation when local residents spotted a crocodile carrying a human body in an advanced state of decomposition. Civil Protection elements and State and municipal firefighters quickly responded to the distress call and carried out the body’s rescue.
Witnesses who saw the unsettling spectacle described the crocodile biting the corpse’s head. Onlookers reportedly threw stones at the creature in an attempt to make it release the body while calling 911 for immediate assistance.
Upon arriving at the scene near the end of Arnulfo R Gómez Street, the rescuers found the body with a detached arm wedged between some logs in the river. The rescue team swiftly initiated maneuvers to retrieve the body from the reptile’s clutches and the water.
Given the body’s severe decomposition, it became apparent to the team that the individual had been deceased for several days, ruling out the possibility of death resulting from the crocodile attack.
After strenuous efforts, the body was eventually retrieved from the water. It was subsequently handed over to the Jalisco Institute of Forensic Sciences for further examination and to establish the cause of death. The local authorities are now awaiting identification of the body and the results of the post-mortem examination to shed more light on the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
