Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – The National Meteorological Service (SMN) of Mexico has issued a forecast predicting heavy rainfall for Jalisco this Friday, July 12. Tropical Wave No. 8 will be the primary cause, moving over the central Mexican Pacific and resulting in heavy to very heavy rains across western Mexico, with Jalisco experiencing occasional intense rains.
The tropical wave is expected to continue its westward trajectory, ceasing its impact on Mexico by the end of the day. Additionally, low-pressure channels will extend over the Mesa Central and the Sierra Madre Occidental and Oriental. This, combined with atmospheric instability at high levels and moisture influx from both coasts, will produce showers and heavy to very heavy rains with electrical discharges and possible hail in these regions, including the northwest and north of the country. Intense rainfall is forecast for Sinaloa, Durango, Zacatecas, and Nayarit.
Simultaneously, Tropical Wave No. 9 will move through southeastern Mexico, interacting with a low-pressure channel over the southern Gulf of Mexico. This interaction will cause showers and heavy to very heavy rains in the Yucatan Peninsula, the south, and southeast of the country. Intense rainfall is anticipated in Guerrero, Puebla, Oaxaca, Veracruz, and Chiapas.
In contrast to these rainy conditions, hot to very hot weather will persist over areas in the northwest, north, and northeast of Mexico. Temperatures are expected to exceed 40°C in regions such as Baja California, Baja California Sur, and Sonora.
Residents in the affected areas, particularly Jalisco, are advised to take necessary precautions to mitigate potential hazards associated with heavy rainfall, such as flooding and landslides. The SMN and local authorities will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as necessary.
