Among the affected regions were neighborhoods in Puerto Vallarta, La Barca, Autlán de Navarro, El Grullo, and Ocotlán, where communities such as Mascota, San Juan, Centro, Ferrocarril, El Nuevo Fuerte, Solidaridad, and Arboledas bore the brunt of the outage. The blackout’s ripple effect underscored the critical need for a resilient energy infrastructure capable of withstanding surges in demand.
The National Energy Control Center (CENACE) swiftly declared an operational state of emergency on May 7, attributing the blackout to an unprecedented spike in electricity consumption driven by a relentless heat wave.
