International Delegation Visits Puerto Vallarta Maritime Terminal

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – In a demonstration of global cooperation, the Puerto Vallarta maritime terminal recently welcomed military, naval, and air attachés from 14 different nations. The countries represented included Argentina, Germany, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Spain, El Salvador, Ecuador, the United States, Guatemala, Uruguay, Russia, Romania, and Venezuela. This diverse assembly of military representatives boarded the ARM Zapoteco (AMP-02), a notable vessel of the Mexican Navy constructed in the 1980s, which has been in service since June 1, 1986.

The ARM Zapoteco, measuring 69.19 meters in length, provided a unique platform for this international visit. From March 14 to 16, the ship was moored at the local maritime facility, allowing the Administration of the National Port System (ASIPONA) to showcase the internal workings and activities carried out aboard the naval craft.

During their stay, the visiting attachés were not only introduced to the ship’s operations but also had the opportunity to explore the Puerto Vallarta maritime terminal. The visit facilitated a meaningful exchange of ideas and experiences, highlighting the operational characteristics and functions of the port. This interaction serves as a testament to the ongoing efforts towards fostering international collaboration and understanding in maritime operations.

The significance of this event is further underlined by recalling the visit of the French Navy’s surveillance and monitoring ship ‘FS Prairial F731’, a Floreal class frigate, which docked at the maritime terminal last month. This visit was part of a broader initiative of military cooperation between France and Mexico, aimed at sharing knowledge and experiences related to naval procedures and operations.

Such visits are pivotal in strengthening international ties and enhancing cooperative strategies among the participating countries, especially in areas concerning maritime security, logistics, and operational procedures. The Puerto Vallarta maritime terminal continues to play a crucial role in facilitating these important global interactions, underscoring its strategic importance in international maritime affairs.
