Sorry, your last comment had a link and our system is set to not publish comments that contain links. But we have noted your concern between a noun and adjective. Please note there is a comma between the words ‘loud’ and ‘ruckus’, that changes the sentence from the way you have said it was printed. ‘Loud ruckus’ is much different than ‘loud, ruckus’. One indicates that ruckus is describing the ‘loud’ sound while the other (with a comma) indicates a separate thought. The word ruckus is not being used to describe the loud noise, it’s an additional description of the bird making it a noun. It would only be an adjective if there was no comma and the word ruckus was a description of the sound. As it is written, it means the same as ‘loud, disturbing birds’ vs. ‘ loud screeching sound’. However if you still disagree you may contact the Associated Press and ask for a correct, this isn’t a staff article. Thanks again!
The sentence should read “The loud raucous birds…” not “The loud ruckus birds…”
Thank you, but like so many words in the English language there are two correct spellings. http://www.dictionary.com/browse/ruckus
