Puerto Vallarta’s Emiliano Zapata Market in the Romantic Zone Will Host Chef Competition

PUERTO VALLARTA (PVDN) – In an ambitious endeavor to celebrate culinary creativity and accentuate local produce, the Emiliano Zapata Market, in collaboration with the Directorate of Tourism and Economic Development, announced the first-ever Gourmet Fest Sabor en Competencia. The details of the festival were disclosed by the Market coordinator, Cecilio López Fernández, in a recent press conference.

“To know a town, know its markets,” remarked Fernández, emphasizing the significance of local markets in reflecting the community’s culinary and cultural essence. As part of the ongoing administration’s efforts to rejuvenate municipal markets, the festival presents an innovative approach to engage the local community and highlight local produce beyond social media platforms.

Scheduled for August 4, the culinary competition will be hosted within the rustic charm of the Emiliano Zapata market. In a test of talent and creativity, chefs from various city restaurants will be invited to demonstrate their culinary skills, with one distinct rule – all dishes must be prepared exclusively with products sourced from the market.

Esteemed local chef Salvador Carrillo spoke at the press conference, praising the initiative as a groundbreaking event that reinforces the importance of local cuisine. “It rescues the essence of typical cuisine, brought to levels of culinary demand such as those that are handled in this tourist destination,” said Carrillo, demonstrating his support for the event.

The Gourmet Fest Sabor en Competencia promises a unique display of culinary prowess in the vibrant ambiance of a local market. With at least five chefs from around the city expected to participate, attendees will have the exclusive opportunity to witness the live preparation of dishes, adding to the festive atmosphere.

In celebrating the fusion of tradition, innovation, and local produce, the inaugural Gourmet Fest Sabor en Competencia hopes to enrich Puerto Vallarta’s gastronomic scene and contribute to the rejuvenation and promotion of municipal markets.
