PUERTO VALLARTA (PVDN) - The Drinking Water, Drainage, and Sewerage System (SEAPAL) of Puerto Vallarta announced today that the municipality has successfully maintained a steady supply of water to all its neighborhoods. The previously reported intermittent service, mainly affecting the upper part of the El Pitillal delegation, has now been rectified.
For months, countless locals have endured either no water supply, highly diminished water pressure, or have been restricted to specific service hours. These challenges have sparked public health concerns and ignited demonstrations against the city. The protesters decry the apparent prioritization of providing uninterrupted water service to foreigners and tourist zones while less wealthy regions experience service cutbacks.
The city government has been instrumental in initiating these improvements in the availability of potable water, fulfilling a commitment to the inhabitants of this key region. Rodríguez, a former professor, has been lauded for his proactive approach in mitigating the effects of the prior water shortage.
Among the notable actions undertaken include the successful drilling of Well 26 A, which has contributed 40 liters of water per second to the entire northern area of the city. Maintenance work and channelization efforts at the Radial Well, alongside improvement interventions for other supply sources like the repair of pumps in wells 13 and 37, have further bolstered the water supply across the municipality.
Barring any unforeseen or extraordinary circumstances, the service will continue to be provided without interruption, SEAPAL said in its statement.
The SEAPAL administration, led by Jorge Castillo Núñez, expressed gratitude towards the local population for their patience and support during the water shortage caused by periods of low water and drought, coupled with the lack of maintenance and expansion of the infrastructure in past years.
In the statement, Núñez reiterated the commitment of SEAPAL Vallarta to continue executing initiatives that ensure the availability of water over the medium and long term. The recent success highlights the potential positive impact of their efforts to secure the municipality's water supply for the foreseeable future.
