Puerto Vallarta Presents Plan For New Pier on North Side of Historic Center

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – The next municipal administration of Puerto Vallarta has presented its key projects to the Governor-elect of Jalisco, Pablo Lemus Navarro. Among the highlighted initiatives, a new pier in the northern area of the Historic Center is set to be a top priority for the Fiscal Year 2025.

Pablo Lemus Navarro announced in an interview that he recently met with the elected mayor of Puerto Vallarta, Luis Ernesto Munguía González, who outlined several critical municipal projects. These include a state investment for the supply of drinking water, the Crucero de las Juntas Road Node, the Federal Bridge, and the construction of the new pier or dock.

Lemus Navarro emphasized the importance of the pier project, noting that it could be the first major development undertaken in 2025. “I think it could be the first project we develop next year. A pier to supply tourism to the historic center of Puerto Vallarta by sea. Today there is one that is completely on the other side, towards the beach of the dead and these nine piers that the elected mayor of Vallarta told me would be on the other side, that is, at the entrance to the historic center of Vallarta, just before the Rosita hotel.”

The Governor-elect reiterated the need for all 1,285 elected mayors to approach their government team to present municipal projects for inclusion in the 2025 State Expenditure Budget project initiative, which must be submitted by September. Failure to do so would result in these projects being postponed until 2026.

“I hope everyone can come forward very quickly, otherwise we would have to wait until 2026 for these projects,” Lemus Navarro stressed.

In addition to his meeting with the mayor-elect of Puerto Vallarta, Lemus Navarro also mentioned that he will be meeting next week with the re-elected mayor of Tepatitlán to discuss and prioritize the proposed projects for that municipality.

The Governor-elect has been actively engaging with local leaders, having already held meetings with the mayor of Guadalajara, Verónica Delgadillo, and the mayor of Tlajomulco, Quirino Velázquez. These discussions are part of his broader effort to ensure that municipal projects are aligned with state priorities and can secure the necessary funding in the upcoming fiscal year.

The proposed pier in Puerto Vallarta is particularly significant as it aims to boost tourism by enhancing access to the historic center via sea routes. This development is expected to complement existing tourism infrastructure and provide a new entry point for visitors, further promoting the city as a prime tourist destination.
