Puerto Vallarta Shines in Early 2024 with Rising Tourist Numbers and Hotel Occupancy

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Puerto Vallarta has kicked off the first two months of the year with significant growth in visitor arrivals by air, cementing its status as a leading tourist destination in Mexico. Luis Antonio Villaseñor Nolasco, the Director of the Tourism Trust, recently shared this positive outlook, highlighting the city’s continuous lead in hotel occupancy rates for the eighth consecutive week, including the initial long weekend of the year.

The promising start to 2024 is expected to mirror last year’s success, potentially setting new records in tourism and hospitality for Puerto Vallarta. Official data from Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico revealed that the Puerto Vallarta International Airport witnessed a 7.7% increase in passenger traffic this February compared to the same month in 2023. A significant portion of this growth is attributed to international visitors, with a notable influx of 493,700 international passengers.

The upward trend in tourism is anticipated to continue, especially with the arrival of the spring break season, a popular holiday period for students and families in Canada and the United States. Additionally, national tourists are expected to flock to Puerto Vallarta during the upcoming holidays, with the city leading occupancy forecasts among Mexico’s beach destinations.

Efforts to attract more visitors have been intensified, with Fidetur collaborating with the state government to promote Puerto Vallarta on an international scale. Recent promotional initiatives include participation in the Vitrina Anato fair in Bogotá, the Atlanta Travel & Adventure Show, and hosting seminars for travel agents in Mexico City. These efforts are crucial in driving the increase in international travelers, showcasing the collaborative work between tourism authorities and travel professionals in highlighting the city’s appeal.

According to Villaseñor Nolasco, the rise in foreign visitors underscores the effectiveness of these promotional activities and the dedication of travel agents to market Puerto Vallarta as a top travel destination. The city continues to thrive as a preferred location for tourists seeking beach holidays, supported by its robust hospitality and tourism infrastructure.
