Puerto Vallarta (PVDN) – A tragic incident occurred at a hotel in Puerto Vallarta’s renowned Romantic Zone, where a three-year-old child drowned in the swimming pool while vacationing with his family.
The young boy, who hailed from Aguascalientes, entered the hotel pool while his parents were at the beach, an event characterized by authorities as “a lapse in attention.”
The child remained submerged for nearly 10 minutes before anyone came to his aid. After pulling him out of the water, onlookers immediately commenced CPR and called for an ambulance.
Despite the valiant efforts of lifeguards on the scene, the boy sadly passed away. Paramedics from Civil Protection (B-78) arrived at the Marsol hotel and confirmed the child’s death.
Following the tragic incident, the Jalisco Institute of Forensic Sciences sent personnel to retrieve the body.
The devastating event took place on the first day of the family’s vacation in Puerto Vallarta.
Every year, thousands of families worldwide are devastated by the tragic loss of a child due to drowning. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), drowning is the third leading cause of unintentional injury-related deaths globally, accounting for 7% of all injury-related deaths.
Drowning risks vary across age groups, with the highest rates observed in children aged 1 to 4 years. At this age, children are naturally curious and have limited understanding of the potential dangers surrounding water.
Inadequate supervision of children around water sources, such as pools, beaches, and bathtubs, is the leading factor for drowning.
