PUERTO VALLARTA, JALISCO – A daylight robbery at the Scarlata jewelry store in Plaza Caracol left staff and customers shaken on Monday, as two unidentified individuals stormed the establishment around 4:00 p.m., according to reports from Public Security Police.
Witnesses say the criminals threatened customers and employees before forcing open the store’s display cases, where they grabbed jewelry and cash, stuffing the valuables into backpacks. In a matter of minutes, the assailants fled the scene, though no one was able to determine their mode of escape.
Shortly after the incident, officers from the Municipal Police arrived and launched a search operation in and around the area, but with no success in locating the suspects. Investigators are now reviewing security footage and interviewing potential witnesses in an effort to identify the individuals responsible.
This event marks the second violent robbery in Plaza Caracol in less than a week, at a shopping center that has become the most dangerous in Puerto Vallarta in recent years. Just days ago, an armed group targeted another business in the same mall, seizing a substantial amount of cash before vanishing without a trace.
Local authorities, including agents from the State Attorney General’s Office, have opened an investigation into the rash of criminal activity. Officials have urged local business owners to review their security measures and have asked the public to report any suspicious activity to the police.
Despite the unsettling nature of these crimes, authorities remain committed to finding those responsible and restoring a sense of safety to Puerto Vallarta’s busy shopping district. Further updates on the investigation will be provided as new information emerges.
