Armed Men Attack CMQ Hospital in Bucerías

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Early Monday morning, the private CMQ Hospital in Bucerías, a beach town in the municipality of Bahía de Banderas, was the target of a violent attack by armed men, resulting in several injuries.

According to local authorities, the incident occurred shortly before 6 a.m. when a group of unidentified armed individuals arrived at the hospital and opened fire on the facility.

Witnesses reported hearing a barrage of gunshots as the assailants fired upon the building, shattering the entrance door and causing panic among patients and staff.

Several spent shells, believed to be from long-barreled firearms, were recovered at the scene. The entrance of the hospital was heavily damaged, with glass and debris scattered across the vicinity.

After the attack, the gunmen fled the scene. Despite a rapid response, municipal and state police were unable to locate the suspects. Law enforcement agencies have initiated a manhunt and are appealing to the public for any information that could lead to their capture.

The hospital was promptly evacuated, and security forces established a perimeter around the area to commence investigations. The exact number of injured individuals has not been disclosed, and it remains unclear whether they were patients, staff, or bystanders.

“The motive for this brazen attack is still unknown,” a spokesperson for the Nayarit state police stated. “We are conducting a thorough investigation to identify those responsible and to understand the reasons behind this incident.”

The CMQ Hospital is situated in Bahía de Banderas, which is adjacent to Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco. The area is known for its tranquil beaches and is a popular destination for both tourists and locals.

Residents expressed shock and concern over the violence erupting in their community. “This is usually a peaceful place. It’s frightening to think that something like this could happen here,” said a local shop owner who wished to remain anonymous.

Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the attack to come forward. Increased patrols and security measures are expected to be implemented in the area to ensure public safety.
