AMLO proudly highlighted Mexico’s lower unemployment rate compared to the United States, positioning it as one of the nations with the lowest unemployment globally. He attributed the influx of Americans to Mexico to the country’s attractiveness, citing its vibrant culture and robust governance as contributing factors.
The President’s remarks come amidst ongoing discussions about the impact of gentrification, particularly in Mexico City (CDMX), where neighborhoods like Roma, La Condesa, and Polanco have witnessed an increase in American residents. Despite concerns about the displacement of locals and rising property prices, AMLO reiterated his stance that Americans are welcome in Mexico.

In previous statements, he has defended the influx of Americans as a sign of Mexico’s safety and appeal. On September 27, 2023, he celebrated the thousands of Americans relocating to Mexico, contrasting it with the portrayal of Mexico as an insecure destination in the United States.
