This is one of my favorite spots on Earth. Years ago, when we were still fairly new to Mexico, we would go there as a family to explore. At the time there were very few tourists and we would mostly have the area to ourselves.
My only addition to this article is that there are actually three “mysterious openings”. During low tide, there is another fascinating, and somewhat dangerous, tunnel to the back of the island. For the adventurous, it is well worth the time to explore it…just watch for sea urchins.
