Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – The Ministry of the Navy (Semar), through the Mexican Navy, officially kicked off “Operation Lifeguard Easter 2025” this Thursday. The initiative aims to protect vacationers during the upcoming holiday period and will run from April 10 to April 27.
According to a statement released by the Twelfth Naval Zone, more than 80 naval personnel will be deployed throughout Puerto Vallarta and nearby beach destinations to provide enhanced security and surveillance. These efforts include Coast Guard functions in coordination with Civil Protection and various government institutions.
Reinforced Security Measures
A total of 83 naval elements have been tasked with providing onshore and offshore support. This includes 10 maritime surveillance units—ranging from larger ships to smaller rescue vessels—and 4 land units. The heightened presence will be most noticeable at the region’s most popular tourist beaches, where officials will monitor tidal conditions and respond to emergency situations.
The Navy statement emphasized the importance of following instructions from local authorities and lifeguards, particularly regarding beach closures or warnings issued by the Harbor Master’s Office. Officials also remind visitors to exercise caution, remain aware of their surroundings, and stay hydrated under the region’s warm climate.
Emergency Contacts
For those in need of emergency assistance at sea, the Twelfth Naval Zone has provided a direct line for the public: 322 221 11 23. Authorities encourage anyone experiencing or witnessing an emergency to call immediately.
With the heightened influx of national and international visitors expected during the Easter holiday season, authorities are hopeful these measures will help ensure a safe and enjoyable stay for all.
