Puerto Vallarta (PVDN) – Protesters opposing the vehicle verification center in Puerto Vallarta have escalated their efforts by blocking the bridge over the Ameca River, which serves as a key route for vehicles traveling from south to north and leaving the city. The obstruction has limited traffic to a single lane.
Due to the slow movement of vehicles, drivers are advised to exercise caution as the right lane, running from north to south on the Ameca Bridge, has also been closed. The protesters’ main grievance is the introduction of a fee-based vehicle verification system in Puerto Vallarta, which they claim is simply a revenue collection program implemented by Governor Enrique Alfaro Ramírez.
Demonstrators against the vehicle verification system in Puerto Vallarta have closed the right lane on the new Ameca Bridge, running from north to south. They have stated, however, that they will respect the free movement of local citizens.
Around 8:30 in the morning, members of the Resistencia Civil Pacífica (Peaceful Civil Resistance) group closed the specified lane. In response, an unidentified representative of the Jalisco State Government arrived and requested that the protesters clear the way, but they refused to comply.
Notably, several banners display messages condemning Jalisco’s governor, Enrique Alfaro Ramírez. Some protesters, when interviewed by CPS News and Tribuna de Bahía, mentioned that their participation in the demonstration stems from their opposition to the verification center in the city, as they see it as just another tax to be paid and one that ultimately benefits the state president.
