PUERTO VALLARTA (PVDN) – Calling out loudly with chants of “we want justice,” family members and friends of the late Omar Hernández Segovia, popularly known as “El Fantasma,” took to the Francisco Medina Ascencio avenue. Their march was a poignant plea to authorities, urging them to bring justice for the traffic incident that resulted in the tragic death of the young athlete.
The mournful procession commenced at the Pitillal crossroads, tracing the path to the exact location of the heartrending incident on September 1st. Omar met with the ill-fated accident when he was struck by a vehicle while on his motorcycle.
Guadalupe, Omar’s grief-stricken sister, expressed the collective sentiment of the grieving crowd. “We want justice and the prosecutor’s office to conduct a thorough investigation,” she implored. Alongside her, Omar’s mother, siblings, and other family members joined the peaceful protest, halting traffic on the city’s main artery for five minutes.
The young Omar, a recent graduate from the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports at Centro Universitario de la Costa, was not just a budding soccer star in the city but also a beloved figure cherished by his friends and family.
The tragic site, still bearing the stark reminders of the recent accident, saw an emotional breakdown of Omar’s mother. Simultaneously, his two young children, standing alongside their mother, voiced their fervent demands for justice. The gathering was intensified by reports that the alleged accident perpetrator had fled the scene and possibly received protection from certain ministerial authorities.
Following the brief road closure, normal traffic flow resumed on the central lane from north to south. As the city moved on, the echoes of the chants seeking justice for Omar Hernández Segovia lingered.
