Puerto Vallarta Will Join National March on Malecon in Support of Mexico’s Supreme Court Under Fire by President

Puerto Vallarta (PVDN) – On May 28th, Puerto Vallarta will be among numerous cities in Mexico to stage a march in support of the Supreme Court of Mexico (SCJN).

A call to action has been issued by various organizations and businesses, planning for the march to originate from Parque Hidalgo. Participants are expected to assemble at 10:30 a.m., before proceeding towards Los Arcos del Malecón, where a rally is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.

Vallarta Defends the INE, a civic association and the event’s organizer, has urged citizens to join in this show of support for the Supreme Court, other autonomous institutions, and the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States.

This mobilization, endorsed by the area’s business organizations, will kick off at the esplanade of Parque Hidalgo. After gathering at this location at 10:30 a.m., participants will then march to the Malecón, ending at the open-air “Aquiles Serdán” theatre for the final rally.

This nationwide movement defending the SCJN is a response to the perceived attack on the Supreme Court due to the suspension of the so-called Plan B of electoral reform. The assault on the SCJN has allegedly been orchestrated by the federal government, Morena deputies, and governors, who announced a proposal to change the workings of the Judiciary. This proposal is considered an affront to the balance of powers as prescribed in the Magna Carta.

The event organizers have a history of defending the INE, having previously organized two similar marches in November and February.
