Puerto Vallarta is poised for a bustling 2024-2025 winter season, anticipating a significant influx of international visitors thanks to an expanded network of flight routes. According to Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP), flights from the United States will account for 47% of all routes to the city, while Canadian routes will comprise 29%. Domestic flights will represent 22%, with the remaining 2% coming from European cities.
This means that nearly eight out of every ten flights arriving in Puerto Vallarta this winter will originate from international destinations. The U.S. market is leading the charge with 26 routes, including major cities such as Atlanta, Austin, Denver, Dallas-Fort Worth, Detroit, Newark, Houston (from two terminals), Indianapolis, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Chicago, Portland, Phoenix, San Diego, Seattle, San Francisco, San Jose, Salt Lake City, and Santa Ana. New additions this year are routes from New York, Kansas City, Sacramento, and St. Louis—bringing three more routes than last year.
Canada is also increasing its connectivity with 17 routes from cities like Edmonton, Waterloo, Kelowna, Ottawa, Quebec, Comox, Regina, Montreal, Vancouver, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Prince George, Abbotsford, Calgary, Victoria, Toronto, and the newly added Bagotville. This marks one more route than the previous winter season.
Domestically, there will be 13 routes connecting Puerto Vallarta to Aguascalientes, Ciudad Juarez, Durango, Guadalajara, Guanajuato, Mexico City, Mexicali, Monterrey, Santa Lucia, Querétaro, San Luis Potosí, Tijuana, and Toluca. Notably, this is one fewer route compared to last year.
The expansion of international and domestic flight routes underscores Puerto Vallarta’s growing appeal as a premier tourist destination. Local businesses and the tourism sector are optimistic that the increased accessibility will contribute to a prosperous season for the region’s economy.
With enhanced connectivity and a variety of new routes, Puerto Vallarta is set to welcome visitors from across North America and beyond, promising an exciting and vibrant winter season ahead.
