In an unyielding commitment to bolster municipal security, the Puerto Vallarta Citizen Security Commission has intensified its operations in the first half of the year. A variety of strategies have been implemented and efforts have been redoubled to provide a safer environment for both inhabitants and the thousands of tourists who visit the region.
Owing to these reinforced efforts, the Commission reports that 1,393 individuals have been arrested for administrative offenses. Additionally, eight people have been detained for common law crimes and three for federal crimes. The common law offenses range from damage to property, personal injuries, traffic incidents, to unlawful possession of firearms, vehicle theft, and rape. The federal offenses all involve firearm possession.
Commissioner Rigoberto Flores Parra has expressed his satisfaction with the current progress and continues to inspire his team to improve performance day by day. This dedication has resulted in the recovery of 54 stolen vehicles and 27 stolen motorcycles within the year.
The Commission’s tactical operations group (GOT) has also shown great zeal in ensuring security. So far, they’ve conducted 149 operations across the municipality, and an additional 110 inter-institutional operations involving authorities from all three levels of government.
In line with Mayor Luis Alberto Michel Rodríguez’s mandate, the Citizen Security Commission will persist in their work to enhance the security of the municipality and subsequently improve the safety perception for residents and visitors alike.
