Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco – Tourism in Puerto Vallarta continues to experience remarkable growth, with more than 3.7 million people arriving by air in the first half of 2024. This surge represents a 2.6% increase compared to the same period in 2023, highlighting the destination’s sustained popularity and the effectiveness of its tourism strategies.
According to the Jalisco Tourism Secretariat, leveraging data from Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP), which manages the Puerto Vallarta air terminal, the destination welcomed 3,758,900 passengers from January to June 2024. In comparison, the same timeframe in 2023 saw 3,662,400 passengers, underscoring a significant rise in tourism activity.
A substantial part of this growth is attributed to the increase in international visitors. The number of international passengers soared from 2,264,800 in 2023 to 2,441,500 in 2024, marking an impressive 7.8% increase. This uptick underscores Puerto Vallarta’s strengthening appeal to international tourists, reflecting its status as a premier travel destination.
The Secretary of Tourism in Jalisco noted that this positive trend is likely to persist throughout the year, bolstered by new and expanded air routes. Alaska Airlines recently announced new international routes to Puerto Vallarta, while American Airlines has increased its flight frequencies from Phoenix, Arizona. These developments are expected to further enhance the influx of international visitors, contributing to the region’s economic growth and vibrancy.
