This information comes from the latest Epidemiological Week number 28 report, covering the period from July 7-13, 2024.
Puerto Vallarta, a popular tourist destination, has reported a significant number of dengue cases. The city now has 127 confirmed cases, an increase of five from the previous week. This surge highlights the need for ongoing vigilance and preventive measures in the region.
Cabo Corrientes also saw a slight increase, going from 7 to 8 confirmed cases. Talpa de Allende’s numbers rose from 4 to 5, while Tomatlán maintained its count at three confirmed cases. These figures, though smaller than those of Puerto Vallarta, indicate the widespread nature of the dengue issue in the region.
In contrast, the municipalities of Mascota and San Sebastián del Oeste continue to report no confirmed dengue cases, 28 weeks into the year. This is a positive sign for these areas, suggesting effective control and preventive measures are in place.
Statewide, Jalisco has 983 confirmed dengue cases. The most recent record alone added 150 new cases. Breaking down the numbers, 650 cases are classified as non-severe dengue, 306 cases come with warning signs, and 27 are severe cases. Fortunately, there have been no reported deaths due to dengue in the state.
Interestingly, the city of Guadalajara has matched Puerto Vallarta with 127 confirmed cases. For the past two weeks, Guadalajara has released its dengue case lists, a practice previously implemented by Puerto Vallarta. This transparency is crucial for public awareness and for encouraging preventive actions among residents.
