Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – The spirit of Día de los Muertos will come alive once more on Friday, November 1st, at the annual Isla de los Muertos Festival. Now in its third edition, the festival will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the picturesque Cuale River Island in Downtown Puerto Vallarta. This family-friendly event promises a memorable experience steeped in cultural traditions, artistic displays, and vibrant local entertainment, drawing both locals and visitors to celebrate the Mexican holiday.
The Isla de los Muertos Festival will showcase a variety of traditional ofrendas, or altars, meticulously adorned with photos, flowers, candles, and memorabilia in honor of departed loved ones. Attendees can also enjoy the iconic Mexican figure of La Catrina, a skeleton dressed in lavish attire, which has become a cherished symbol of the holiday, representing a lighthearted approach to death. Live entertainment, featuring local performers and musicians, will be available throughout the evening to complement the festive atmosphere.
Adding to the festival’s offerings, attendees can indulge in food and beverages provided by local vendors, offering a taste of Puerto Vallarta’s culinary diversity. In addition, face painting will be available, allowing participants to further immerse themselves in the traditional Día de los Muertos aesthetic by transforming into Catrinas and other colorful characters associated with the holiday.
The Isla de los Muertos Festival is not only a cultural celebration but also an event with a charitable cause. Proceeds will benefit two local nonprofit organizations: the Vallarta Garden Club and Vallarta Cares. The Vallarta Garden Club has been active in beautifying the city through various horticultural projects, while Vallarta Cares focuses on supporting vulnerable communities in Puerto Vallarta.
Attendees are encouraged to visit the festival’s official Facebook page, Festival Isla de los Muertos, to view the full program and stay updated on event details: Festival Isla de los Muertos.
