Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Puerto Vallarta experienced a surge in economic activity yesterday as more than 5,000 cruise passengers and crew members arrived aboard the Discovery Princess. The influx of visitors brought an estimated economic impact of $609,840 to the city, according to the National Port System Administration (Asipona Puerto Vallarta).
The Discovery Princess, part of a 7-day itinerary, embarked on its journey from Los Angeles on January 18. The cruise made stops in Cabo San Lucas and Mazatlán before docking at Puerto Vallarta’s dock 1. The ship will return to its homeport in Los Angeles on January 25.
During their visit, the Discovery Princess brought 3,724 passengers and 1,358 crew members to the city. With an average expenditure of $120 per person, these visitors contributed significantly to the local economy. Popular activities included exploring Puerto Vallarta’s historic sites, enjoying the city’s diverse gastronomy, and experiencing the renowned hospitality of Vallarta residents.
Beyond sightseeing and dining, Puerto Vallarta’s strategic location and connectivity to the international airport make it a key destination for cruise crew changes. On this occasion, 25 crew members disembarked while 24 new crew members joined the ship.
