Puerto Vallarta Hotels Anticipate Successful Summer Season with High Reservation Rates

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco – More than a month before the official start of the summer vacation period, Puerto Vallarta hotels are already reporting promising reservation levels, indicating a successful season ahead. The Hotel and Motel Association of Puerto Vallarta has expressed optimism, with current bookings suggesting robust occupancy rates.

Most reservations are coming from the national market, though a significant number of foreign tourists are also expected to visit. Many establishments have reported reservations exceeding 50 percent for the summer months.

According to the official calendar from the Secretariat of Public Education (SEP), summer vacations will commence on Monday, July 16, marking the start of the 2023-2024 school year break. The vacation period will last for five weeks, allowing students 35 days off before classes resume in August.

It is important to note that end-of-course activities at schools have already begun, leading to increased hotel bookings as schools often use hotels for various events. This has contributed to heightened tourist activity even before the official holiday period begins.

Additionally, due to the high temperatures and intense heat across various regions of the country, the SEP has decided to bring forward the summer vacation period. Some states have already announced that vacations will begin in the last days of June, making adjustments to the original schedule.

Looking ahead to the upcoming weekend, which coincides with election day, Puerto Vallarta is expected to maintain high occupancy levels. Currently, the overall occupancy rate is around 65 percent, but it is anticipated to exceed 70 percent on weekends, including June 2.

With these early indicators of strong bookings and the possibility of extended vacation periods due to weather adjustments, Puerto Vallarta’s tourism sector is gearing up for a thriving summer season. The combination of domestic and international visitors promises a bustling and vibrant atmosphere, ensuring that the destination remains a top choice for vacationers seeking sun, sea, and leisure.
