Puerto Vallarta (PVDN) – The Puerto Vallarta News Brief covers the top trending stories of the week on Vallarta Daily News and is hosted by Felipe Alvarez.
The stories this week.
“Despite global challenges, Puerto Vallarta is leading the pack in Mexico’s tourism recovery. In
the first half of 2023, it had the highest hotel occupancy rate and the largest increase in
tourists compared to other beach cities. Investments in the city, like the remodeling of the
International Convention Center, have helped boost the economy.”
“However, the perception of safety in Puerto Vallarta has dropped. A recent survey showed
more people feel the city is unsafe compared to three months ago, moving it from the top ten
safest cities in Mexico to the 13th position. Yet, it’s still considered safer than many other
Mexican cities.”
“In other news, Mónica de León Barba, an American held hostage in Jalisco, Mexico, is now
free after nine months. Mónica was abducted last November while walking her dog. The FBI
had offered a $40,000 reward for information leading to her safe return. Mónica’s family
expressed their deep gratitude for the support they received during this difficult time.”
