Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco — Starting December 2, residents and visitors in Puerto Vallarta will notice a new safety feature throughout the city: alert buttons designed to enhance communication between citizens and public security officials. Mayor Luis Ernesto Munguía González announced that the final installations are underway, with plans to have between 100 and 120 alert buttons operational by early December.
The alert buttons have been strategically placed at bus stops, public squares, and in the city center since the current administration took office. Mayor Munguía González emphasized the importance of public awareness regarding the new system. “We want people to know how these buttons work,” he stated, assuring that they will be user-friendly and easily accessible in times of need.
Although specific operational details were not disclosed, the mayor expressed confidence in the system’s effectiveness as a tool for enhancing public safety. The buttons have undergone preliminary testing to ensure readiness prior to their official launch.
In addition to the alert buttons, December 2 will also mark the introduction of a new Tourist Police model. This unit, reinstated after more than a decade, aims to provide visitors with a sense of safety and guidance throughout their stay in Puerto Vallarta. The presence of the Tourist Police is expected to bolster the city’s reputation as a secure and welcoming destination.
The same day will see the commencement of the “White Christmas Operation,” a collaborative security initiative involving state authorities, neighboring Bahía de Banderas, the state of Nayarit, the National Guard, the Mexican Army, and the Navy. This operation is designed to ensure a safe holiday season for both residents and tourists.
With these measures, Puerto Vallarta reinforces its commitment to public safety and continues to enhance the well-being of its community and visitors alike.
