Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – In response to the prevailing high waves and a recent sighting of crocodiles on beaches, Civil Protection authorities in Puerto Vallarta have taken proactive measures to ensure the safety of beachgoers. Red and purple flags have been installed on several beaches across the city.
According to Mario Ramírez, the head of the lifeguard area within the Municipal Directorate of Civil Protection and Firefighters, the phenomenon of high waves began on Tuesday and has persisted intermittently into Wednesday. To mitigate potential risks, red flags have been prominently placed on three prominent beaches in Puerto Vallarta: Palmares, Los Muertos, and Camarones. Meanwhile, yellow flags are flying on the remaining beaches in the bay, signaling caution to visitors.
Additionally, the State Civil Protection Unit has announced the installation of a purple flag, indicative of the presence of dangerous marine fauna. This measure was taken following the observation of a crocodile in the vicinity. Consequently, the alert status extends from Playa de Oro to Holi Beach.
These precautionary measures serve as a reminder of the importance of beach safety, particularly during times of heightened natural phenomena. Visitors and residents alike are urged to heed these flags and guidelines issued by authorities to ensure their well-being while enjoying the beautiful beaches of Puerto Vallarta.
Civil Protection authorities will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as necessary to ensure the safety of all individuals in the area. Beachgoers are advised to exercise caution, respect the flag warnings, and stay informed about changing conditions to make the most of their beach experience in Puerto Vallarta.
