PUERTO VALLARTA (PVDN) – The Preventive and Highway Police Station has ramped up its surveillance efforts to ensure heightened security for Vallarta residents and tourists, particularly in the commercial and banking sectors.
With commercial activity witnessing a surge due to payments, leading to increased economic flow in the area, officers are set to conduct regular visits to local businesses. They aim to liaise with shop owners and inform them about essential security measures.
Bank areas are also under close watch. Officers have been stationed both within the periphery and outside banking institutions. Their main aim? To spot suspicious individuals and protect patrons from potential threats like tire punchers, scams, and robberies, especially targeting those who come to make withdrawals.
Commissioner Rigoberto Flores Parra has stated that surveillance will maintain its regular pace in the colonies. With the added strength of state and federal forces, random patrols will be conducted to check for unusual activity. This ensures swift response and action in case of any reported incident.
In addition to these security measures, the agency proactively advises locals and tourists. The guidelines are recommendations against carrying large sums of cash, avoiding assistance from unknown individuals at ATMs, parking in well-lit areas, and ensuring valuables, including purchased items, bags, electronics, and mobile devices, are not in plain view.
Luis Alberto Michel Rodríguez, the Municipal President, further extends an offer to the public. Anyone planning to withdraw or deposit significant amounts at bank branches can seek police accompaniment. To avail this support, individuals can contact the dedicated helplines at 911 or 322 178 8999.
For those leaving their residences, it’s also recommended to ensure doors and windows are securely locked. Moreover, reporting any suspicious activities or individuals to 911 is highly encouraged. The mayor assures that every report will be addressed promptly and appropriately.
Safety remains paramount. As the city sees an uptick in commerce, the combined efforts of the public and the police will ensure Vallarta remains a secure and welcoming place for all.
