Puerto Vallarta Continues to Shine as a Preferred Filming Destination in 2024

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Puerto Vallarta has once again emerged as a favored location for film and television productions, with three exciting projects already on the agenda for 2024. Christian Preciado Cázares, the director of Tourism and Economic Development, recently announced that this coastal paradise continues to attract the attention of production companies seeking stunning backdrops for their projects.

Among the forthcoming productions, the highly acclaimed series “El Señor de los Cielos” is set to return to Puerto Vallarta. Additionally, a soap opera is in the works, highlighting the city’s growing appeal as a hub for the entertainment industry.

Preciado Cázares emphasized that Puerto Vallarta has become a hotbed of activity for film and television productions, with numerous requests pouring in from production companies. Reflecting on the previous year, he noted that Puerto Vallarta played host to between seven and eight filmings, resulting in an economic impact of more than 200 million pesos.

The diversity of productions is striking, ranging from series like “Acapulco,” featuring renowned comedian Eugenio Derbez, to reality shows such as “The Bachelor Germany.” Notably, “The Bachelor” franchise is set to return for editions in the United States and Japan, hinting at the city’s universal appeal.

While the specific reasons behind the choice of Puerto Vallarta as a filming location remain confidential due to privacy agreements, it is evident that these productions are not confined to the tourist areas alone. Popular neighborhoods within the city also serve as captivating settings for these projects.

Preciado Cázares underscored the substantial economic benefits that these filmings bring to Puerto Vallarta. From rental of vehicles and houses to extended hotel stays and increased restaurant patronage, the film and television industry’s investment significantly contributes to the local economy.

As the city experiences a surge in tourism, it is essential to ensure that road closures do not disrupt the daily lives of residents and workers. Preciado Cázares assured that efforts would be made to keep the public informed about any road closures to minimize inconvenience.

Looking ahead to 2024, Puerto Vallarta has already locked in three filmings for the year. One production, which commenced earlier this month, has recently concluded, with more excitement on the horizon. At the end of January, filming for another season of “El Señor de los Cielos” will kick off, alongside the production of a soap opera for both national and international audiences.

In recent years, Puerto Vallarta has witnessed a surge in filming activity, hosting projects for prominent streaming platforms like Netflix, Amazon, and Apple TV+, as well as television networks such as ABC in the United States and Warner Brothers. These developments continue to solidify Puerto Vallarta’s position as a sought-after destination for the global entertainment industry.

As the city welcomes new projects in 2024, Puerto Vallarta remains a thriving hub for filmmakers and a haven for those seeking to explore its stunning landscapes, vibrant neighborhoods, and rich culture on the silver screen.
