Body of Missing Boy Found on Beach in Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – After more than 40 hours of intense search efforts, the body of Karol André González López, a teenager who went missing on FIBBA beach in Nuevo Vallarta, Banderas Bay, was located on Sunday morning.

The tragic discovery was made several kilometers from the mouth of the Ameca River, near the beaches of Boca de Tomates in Marina Vallarta. Jalisco Civil Protection personnel spotted the floating body shortly after 10 a.m. and immediately coordinated its recovery.

The remains were subsequently transferred to the Port Captaincy of Nuevo Vallarta, where legal procedures commenced to facilitate the handover to his grieving relatives.

Karol André González López, originally from Guadalajara, Jalisco, had been vacationing in the region with his family. He had been staying at a residence in the Altavela de Mezcales subdivision. His disappearance at sea occurred amid challenging and adverse maritime conditions.

Efforts to locate Karol André began on Friday, December 27, and saw the collaboration of multiple agencies, including Nayarit Lifeguards, Civil Protection, Bahía de Banderas Firefighters, and the State Tourist Police. The operation spanned the coastline as teams scoured the waters in search of the missing teenager.

The search officially concluded at 11 a.m. on Sunday, following the recovery of Karol André’ s body. Authorities lifted the missing person alert, bringing an end to an emotionally exhausting effort that had left both officials and the teenager’s family in a prolonged state of uncertainty.

Relatives, who had remained at FIBBA beach since Karol André’s disappearance, were present throughout the search and subsequent legal proceedings. The family is now focused on funeral arrangements and commemorating the life of their beloved son.

This incident highlights the dangers posed by unpredictable sea conditions, underscoring the need for increased caution when visiting local beaches, particularly during times of strong currents. Local authorities continue to urge beachgoers to heed safety warnings and to remain vigilant in high-risk areas.

Authorities expressed their condolences to the family and thanked the various organizations and volunteers who assisted in the search and recovery efforts. Investigations into the precise circumstances surrounding the teenager’s disappearance remain ongoing.
