Puerto Vallarta Gears Up for the Second Edition of “Sabor en Competencia” Culinary Contest

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – The vibrant city of Puerto Vallarta is once again set to host the much-anticipated second edition of the “Sabor en Competencia” cooking contest, a distinguished event that spotlights the region’s culinary ingenuity and promotes local market products. This year’s competition promises to showcase the exceptional talents of some of the city’s finest chefs, following the successful inaugural event held at the Emiliano Zapata market in 2023.

Scheduled for March 15, 2024, “Sabor en Competencia” invites top chefs from prestigious local restaurants to demonstrate their culinary skills and creativity under intense pressure. Participants will be challenged to prepare innovative dishes within the tight timeframe of 59 minutes, utilizing only ingredients sourced from the hosting market. This unique format not only highlights the chefs’ ability to craft extraordinary meals on the fly but also emphasizes the importance and versatility of local products.

The inaugural contest saw an overwhelming response, with chef Alejandra Aisury Delgado García from the Masame restaurant clinching the coveted title with her exceptional culinary creation. The event attracted food enthusiasts from across the region, turning it into a celebration of local flavors and cooking excellence.

The Government of Puerto Vallarta, in coordination with the National Chamber of the Restaurant and Seasoned Foods Industry (CANIRAC) Puerto Vallarta, Riviera Nayarit, and Costalegre, is organizing the event. These partnerships underline the collective effort to bolster Puerto Vallarta’s reputation as a top culinary destination while supporting the local food industry and markets.
