Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – In a bid to bolster beach safety during the busy Holy Week and Easter holiday period, the Government of Luis Munguía has inaugurated the first surveillance tower on Camarones Beach. The initiative, which falls under the broader effort to ensure the welfare of both locals and tourists, marks a significant step in enhancing the security and vigilance across the city’s shores.
During the inauguration, Munguía emphasized the importance of respecting the new structures, noting that they are essential workspaces for rescue teams. With a surge of visitors expected to flock to Puerto Vallarta’s beaches between April 11 and 27, local authorities aim to provide a safe and pleasant experience for everyone.
According to Misael López Muro, Puerto Vallarta’s Director of Civil Protection and Firefighters, 12 towers will be installed in total—six large and six medium-sized—covering 12 beaches around the bay. While the first surveillance tower is already operational, the remaining towers will be gradually set up throughout the vacation season.
An additional highlight of this project is the use of recyclable materials in constructing these lifeguard towers, reinforcing the administration’s focus on environmental responsibility. With this sustainable approach, authorities are calling on the public to help preserve the structures, ensuring they remain in good condition for future holiday seasons.
Local civil protection officials remind beachgoers to follow safety guidelines and to stay vigilant, especially during high tide or when strong currents are present. By working together—local government, safety personnel, and visitors—Puerto Vallarta hopes to maintain its reputation as a top tourist destination where security and enjoyment go hand in hand.
