The Meteorology Unit of the Autonomous University of Nayarit (UAN) has issued a significant warning regarding the formation of Tropical Storm “Bud.” This event marks the second tropical storm of the 2024 season in the Mexican Pacific.
The formation of “Bud” occurred on Wednesday, July 24, at 1:40 pm, originating from Tropical Disturbance 93E. At the time of formation, the storm was situated 690 kilometers south-southwest of Baja California Sur. The tropical storm presented maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h and was advancing at a speed of 26 km/h in a west-northwest direction (295º).
In an official statement, the UAN’s Research and Graduate Studies Department, through its Meteorology Department, emphasized that “Bud” does not pose a direct threat to the states of Nayarit, Jalisco, and Baja California Sur. The storm is not expected to have any effects on these regions. Nonetheless, the storm is under continuous observation to track any potential changes in its trajectory or intensity.
