This morning, at 5:20 am, elements of the National Defense Secretariat (Sedena) arrested Antonio Oseguera Cervantes, brother of Nemesio, alias “El Mencho”, leader of the New Generation Cartel (CNG).
The arrest was carried out in coordination with elements of the Mexican Army, the National Guard, the National Intelligence Center (CNI), the Specialized Prosecutor for Organized Crime (FEMDO), and the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR), and according to the Sedena, “it was carried out without a single shot” .
“Tony Montana”, as the brother of “El Mencho” was known, was seized with six short weapons, one long weapon, various rounds of ammunition for high-powered weapons, two vehicles, and various amounts of drugs, which are pending count to know the quantity and weight.
Due to the danger created by his capture, and for security reasons, he was transferred to Mexico City.
“With the arrest of Antonio Oseguera alias “Montana”, the structure and illicit operation of the Jalisco drug cartel is destabilized and directly and severely affected and consequently the great economic profits that Rubén Oseguera received alias ‘Mencho’ are cut off”, indicated the Sedena.
According to the lines of investigation that are being followed against him, Antonio Oseguera alias “Montana” worked and received direct orders from his brother Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes alias “Mencho”, who gave him the task of co-opting the authorities of the three levels of government. (federal, state, and municipal) with the goal that they do not capture important leaders of that organization, nor that they intervene in the criminal activities that they carried out.
He was also tasked with the purchase of large arsenals and for being one of the main generators of cartel violence against its adversaries.
